A woman, who works in a local business concern, was said to have been in possession of more than $20,000 belonging to her employees and was on the way to the bank when she decided to pull off the real time drama.
Police sources told the Borneo Bulletin that the Bruneian woman, who was said to be facing serious financial trouble, had apparently planned the supposed robbery in detail and well in advance.
"She made it all look so realistic that she fooled everybody for a while," the source said.
The woman, who is in her mid thirties, allegedly stage-managed the supposed assault and robbery to bizarre details.
She went to the extent of displaying self-inflicted wounds and tussled hair to make it appear that she had really been roughed up by her tormentors who, she told the police, had got away with the money.
She was rushed to the hospital in a hysterical condition and while there police confronted her with the evidence as soon as she had calmed down. She quickly confessed her diabolical plot.
The money, it is understood, was being kept in her house. It is not clear whether the police have recovered it fully.
The woman, who is still warded, has been since held by the police. They have been questioning her. It is not known whether anyone else was involved. -- A Brudirect Report
